2020 was a whirlwind of experiences. It was the first time we incubated aspiring startups virtually and to see them power through 2020 was awe-inspiring. They make the journey of creating sustainable cities and communities, more possible with each passing day.

Phytopia is a social enterprise targeting two beneficiary groups by developing a horizontally integrated supply chain. Phytopia connects small farmers with simple agtech to improve efficiency and offers the students and staff in universities with affordable and healthier food made from harvested produces in a form of salad box.

• Sokong Digital Programme 2020 Winner that focuses on the development of social enterprise with impacts.

• Official store launch in October

• Third place in Social Innovation Ideas Competition BISIC2020

• Supporting #ZEROHUNGER

• Contributed RM500 to help students navigate the COVID-19's Movement Control Order

• Virtual run to raise awareness for World Food Day

Datanam

Hint: data + vertical farming

Datanam, uses a Precision Vertical Farming method that combines the practices of the best local farms with the latest technologies to grow the best quality of produce in a systematic way. Datanam uses data to ensure that the demand and supply are matched in a manner that maximises sustainability.

• Reducing crop cycles by 40% through optimisation and automation allowing for faster harvest

• Empowering consumers to build their own farms with home space

• Utilisation and optimisation of purified water that decreases water usage by 95% and using 90% less fertilisers

• Leveraging on blockchain and IOT to ensure traceability and quality assurance

Hidroagro

Hint: hydro + education

Agricultural startup providing hydroponic and aquaponic solutions along with training and education to farmers to provide healthier, tech-driven ways of growing and consuming food produce.

Here are some highlights of what they have done!

• Free workshops on fundamentals of hydroponic to open up new business opportunities

• Engaging youths during the COVID-19 pandemic to contribute to creative and innovative sustainability solutions

• Working with a client from government-owned institutions to educate on how to cultivate plants using hydroponic systems during Work From Home
